Following a year-long search, the Mission Chamber Orchestra of San José is delighted to announce the appointment of Juan Palacios as our new musical director. Palacios will be the 2nd music director in the MCO's 29 year history, following founding director Emily Ray.

About The Event

African Suite : Dance Negre, Op 35  N 4, by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor Fuga Criolla, by Juan Bautista Plaza Trumpet Concerto, by Alexander Arutiunian, with Owen Miyoshi soloist Symphony 2, by Johannes Brahms

Owen Miyoshi, a Berkeley Ca native, graduated from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where he studied with David Burkhart. He has been performing and teaching trumpet in the Bay Area for over 25 years. A member with the Monterey Symphony since 2000, and San Francisco Chamber Orchestra as well as a regular sub with Symphony San Jose for the last 22 years. He also freelances with many orchestras throughout the bay area. In addition to performing, Owen teaches private lessons in Berkeley and at James Logan High School. He is the trumpet coach at Berkeley High School (5 jazz bands and 3 regular bands) and most recently has become a Teaching Artist at the ELM Program (Enriching Lives through Music) in San Rafael. Outside of music, Owen is an avid competitive cyclist, (some say cycling junkie), where he does masters racing and endurance ride events (Gran Fondo).
