San Jose Wind Symphony - Fire / Light

As the San Jose Wind Symphony’s new Music and Artistic Director, Dr. David Vickerman has promised to program both the classics from traditional wind band literature and the best new works from exciting, contemporary composers. To conclude his inaugural season, he has programmed excellent examples of each genre: for the latter, there is Reena Esmail’s ebullient Chamak — with special guest tabla player — alongside Jennifer Jolley’s poignant contemplation on the destruction of California wildfires, Ash, and the energetic and rhythmic Dancing Fire by Kevin Day. The concert concludes with Ida Gotkovsky’s epic masterpiece Poeme du Feu. Don’t miss it!
